Munich, the vibrant capital of Bavaria, is only 75 km from Austria and has over a million inhabitants. The city will delight every visitor. The old town around Marienplatz is easily accessible by subway and is the ideal starting point for a sightseeing tour. Traditional Bavarian architecture and many shops are in the center, which consists largely of pedestrian zones. The traditional Viktualienmarkt, not far from the town hall, is a meeting point for young and old and, with its great market stalls, a place where you can get not only national but also many international and exotic foods.
Bayern is known for its cosiness, which is expressed above all in the beer gardens with a beer (1 liter) and delicacies (delicious snacks).
If the weather plays along, the beer gardens fill up quickly and you can enjoy white sausage and wheat beer. Schwabing is the modern nightlife district in the north of the city. On the other side of the long Leopoldstraße you will find many places to go out in rustic pubs at the Münchener Freiheit - another Munich highlight.

Sport plays an important role in Munich - mainly characterized by the Olympic Park. The large and impressive Olympic Stadium was built in 1972 for the Olympic Games and was home to FC Bayern Munich until 2005. The stadium, the hall, the swimming pool and the tennis courts are open to the public and are always worth a visit with their unique architecture. Guided tours are offered daily and there are also regular events and concerts. In the revolving restaurant of the Olympic Tower (290 meters high), you can enjoy a wonderful panoramic view of the city when the weather is nice - with a lot of luck, the Alps are also close enough to touch.

Another highlight, especially for football fans, is the Allianz Arena. The opening of the Allianz Arena added another main attraction to Munich. The new football stadium has been home to FC Bayern Munich since the 2005/2006 season. It was also the scene of the opening of the 2006 World Cup. The stadium impresses with its modern and progressive architecture. The outer skin consists of many air-filled foil cushions that can be illuminated in three different colors (red, white and blue) and are therefore visible from afar at night. The spectator capacity is 66,000 people.
